Sándor
ICGEB
AREA Science Park,
Padriciano 99, I-34012 Trieste, ITALY.
Telephone: +39-040-3757300
Fax: +39-040-226555
Research interest:
Bioinformatics of genomes and proteomes, folding and
disease, protein/DNA interactions, system biology.
The group's interests are centered on the principles
of macro-molecular structure and the mechanism by which
specific molecular targets are recognized. Molecular recognition
plays roles in signal transduction and gene regulation,
and the agents capable of influencing these processes
are ideal candidates for biomedical applications.

Research interest:
The origin and early evolution of life, particularly
in the analysis of microbial genomes for the understanding
of the evolution and assembly of basic metabolic pathways
and the main mechanisms participating in this process
(horizontal gene transfer, gene duplication, simple sequences).

Research interest:
-Bioinformation systems: Data integration and data mining
techniques to link the phenotype to the genotype in plants
and animals. Rational methods of storing and retrieving
data.
- Analysis of microarray data: Improve the resolving
power of microarrays, amongst other by developing and
incorporating ontologies during the cluster analysis process.
- Genome evolution and phylogeny: Study the evolution
of sequences and genomes, ranging from simple structures
like amino acid and nucleotide repeats, up to the evolution
of complete genomes.
