The IPICYT department of science information carries out
work fulfilling science workshops.
Goal
Making scientific advancement available to non-specialized
public in a playful and entertaining way.
Science Workshops
- Allowing the highest degree of interaction among all its
participants, solving doubts in a pertinent way .
- Fostering idea exchange with the purpose of building knowledge.
- Low cost material and of an easy availability may be used.
- One or several fields of science can be considered.
The challenges of the workshop person are:
- Demystifying the image society has formed regarding
science and scientists.
- Presentar a la ciencia como una actividad humana.
- Encourage critical judgment.
- Do away with the myth of “magic”.
- Know the story of the science being disclosed.
- The workshop person may convert the morbid into scientific
curiosity.
- The workshop person must demonstrate that science has
no moral.
- The workshop person must be familiar with the educational
level involving his area of information disclosure.
- The workshop person must be able to integrate several
parts of knowledge.
- The workshop person must avoid falling into “intellectual
impostures”.
