Mission
To perform research and instruction concerning biosphere
and atmosphere processes and how anthropogenic activities
affect them, as a basis for the sustainable use of natural
resources.
Goals
The goals are to:
- Perform research concerning factors causing a global
change and their impact on biota, soil, water and
the atmosphere.
- Perform pertinent research in Environmental Sciences
with the purpose of preventing, reducing and remediating
water, air and soil pollution.
- Develop fundamental research regarding the rational
and sustainable use of natural resources by understanding
the way ecosystems function.
- Prepare specialists in environmental sciences armed
with the multidisciplinary skills needed to use modern
techniques for the study and solution of environmental
problems.
- Establish and propose technical guidelines for environmental
legislation and policies.
Division Goals:
Short Term
Consolidate the Postgraduate Program in
Applied Sciences with an option in Environmental Sciences,
for preparing highly qualified human resources, and
a multidisciplinary approach.
Strengthen the general lines of research.
Mid Term
That the specialists from the Division
and its graduates contribute toward the solution of
environmental problems, foster environmental tutoring
of the population and contribute to the development
and application of environmental policies in the places
where they may be professionally working.
Long Term
To transcend, academic wise, by preparing
highly qualified specialists that will perform basic
and applied research, thus contributing toward the improvement
of the environment on a local, regional and global level.
